The Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team renews the challenge in the Superstock 1000 Championship

After being a protagonist throughout its debut season – barely missing the title with Leandro Mercado and collecting 3 wins and six podiums overall – the Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team renews the challenge in the European Superstock 1000 Championship, pairing Michael Ruben Rinaldi with Mike Jones.

Jones, born in Australia in 1994 and a pupil of Troy Bayliss, honed his riding skills in the Australian Superbike Championship, which he won in 2015.

After collecting a brilliant win at EuroSpeedway Lausitz (Germany) with Leandro Mercado, the Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team is ready for another challenge at Magny-Cours (France), home of the penultimate round of the Superstock1000 FIM Cup. Mercado’s win – his third of 2016 – allowed him to reclaim the leadership in the general standings with a 14-point advantage over his rival De Rosa. With 50 points still up for grabs, however, the championship is far from over.

Third win of the season for Mercado at EuroSpeedway Lausitz, Rinaldi is 25th after a crash

The Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team took the top step of the podium once again at EuroSpeedway Lausitz with Leandro Mercado. The Argentinian, who claimed his third win of 2016 after Aragon and Imola, thus regained the lead in the Superstock1000 FIM Cup. Starting from 7th position on the grid, Mercado took the lead from the very first lap and imposed an unmatchable pace to finish the race more than 20 seconds ahead of his closest opponent.

The Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team back in action at EuroSpeedway Lausitz

The Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team is ready to take it to the track once again at EuroSpeedway Lausitz (Germany), home of the sixth round of the Superstock1000 FIM Cup. The German track is the only novelty in the 2016 calendar, but the WorldSBK circus has already raced there from 2001 until 2007.

The Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team wraps up a two-day test in EuroSpeedway Lausitz

The Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team positively concluded two days of testing at EuroSpeedway Lausitz in anticipation of the race, scheduled for September 16-18.
The German track is the only novelty in this season’s calendar, but already hosted the WorldSBK championship from 2001 to 2007.

Leandro Mercado and Michael Ruben Rinaldi thus had a chance to get acquainted with the 4.345 meter-long circuit and get a head-start on the basic setup ahead of the sixth round of the Superstock1000 FIM Cup

A bitter ending characterized the Superstock1000 FIM Cup’s race in Misano for the Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team, as Leandro Mercado was forced to retire due to a contact while he was in the lead during the last lap. The Argentinian is still second in the championship, trailing by 5 points with three races left.

Michael Ruben Rinaldi, who started in last position due to a technical issue during the qualifying session, mounted a thrilling comeback to finish in tenth place.

Second place for the Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team ready to resume action in Misano

For the fifth round of the season, the Superstock1000 FIM Cup is ready to kick-start the action in Misano, home of the second and last “home race” for the Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team. In Imola, the team seized a thrilling victory with Leandro Mercado, and the goals set for the Misano race are just as ambitious.

Mercado is eager to secure another strong finish (two wins and a podium in four races so far for the Argentinian) and reclaim the lead in the championship, where he trails by only five points. Michael Ruben Rinaldi, who is currently third in the standings behind his teammate, is determined to make further steps forward in his growth path, which crowned him as the most succesful rookie so far.

Second place for the Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team at Donington with Mercado, Rinaldi 5th

The Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team stepped on the podium once again in the Superstock1000 FIM Cup – a constant in all the races held so far – thanks to Leandro Mercado’s second place in Donington (U.K). The rookie Michael Ruben Rinaldi, who was third just behind his teammate for most of the race, faced a small drop with four laps to go to finish in fifth position.

Starting from third and sixth place on the grid respectively, both Mercado and Rinaldi were quick at the start to take second and third position. Both riders pushed hard from the very first lap to pull away from the field in an attempt not to lose contact with leader De Rosa.

After scoring a breathtaking victory – the second of the season – at Imola (Italy) with Leandro Mercado, the Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team is ready for another challenge in Donington (U.K.), home of the fourth round of the Superstock1000 FIM Cup.

Both Mercado and the rookie Michael Ruben Rinaldi, respectively first and third in the championship, are eager to tackle the historic British track, confirm the competitiveness of the Panigale R, and achieve further positive results before heading back to Italy at Misano, where the team will race in front of its fans for the second time this year before heading into the summer break.

The Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team back on track in Imola

The Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team is ready for another challenge in Imola, home of the third round of the Superstock1000 FIM Cup.

The Enzo and Dino Ferrari Circuit marks the home round both for the team and the riders Michael Ruben Rinaldi and Leandro Mercado, who was born in Argentina but lives only a few kilometers away from the track, and thus represents an ideal place to make the most of the potential of the Panigale R.

After scoring a one-two finish in Aragon (Spain) and claiming another podium in Assen (Holland) in extremely variable weather conditions, the team is eager to confirm its protagonist status and reclaim the championship lead. Rinaldi and Mercado currently sit in second and third position in the standings, 5 and 9 points away respectively from the top.

Memorable debut for the Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team: Mercado and Rinaldi take first and second pla

Debuting in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup in Aragon, the Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team climbed to the top step of the podium with Leandro Mercado, who preceded his teammate Michael Ruben Rinaldi with a narrow margin on the finish line.

The race was initially red-flagged due to a group collision at turn 1. After the second start, with the race shortened to 8 laps, Mercado took the ‘holeshot’ and led the group. His teammate Rinaldi caught up by lap 3, and the pair traded positions during lap 6 before finishing in close proximity with the Argentinian in front and the young Italian rookie only four tenths of a second behind.

Aruba to compete also in the Superstock1000 FIM Cup with the Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team

• Aruba.it doubles its motorsport commitment after the results achieved in World Superbike

• New livery of the Panigale R developed by Feel Racing unveiled

After a positive debut with four days of testing on track between Portugal and Spain at the end of January, the Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team was officially presented in Aruba’s high-tech IT1 Data Center in Arezzo. For the occasion, the riders Leandro Mercado (23) and Michael Ruben Rinaldi (20) unveiled the liveries for the 2016 championship, both with the clear intent to race as protagonists.

Aruba renews the challenge in the WorldSBK championship and debuts in the Superstock1000 FIM Cup wit

• Aruba doubles its motorsport commitment after the success achieved in WorldSBK
• The team selected young riders Leandro Mercado and Michael Ruben Rinaldi
• The team will field two Ducati Panigale R in partnership with Feel Racing


Arezzo/Crespellano (Italy), December 18, 2015: building on the success achieved in its debut year in the WorldSBK championship – testified by five victories, 21 collective podiums and Chaz Davies’ second place in the final standings – Aruba chose to double its efforts, participating in the Superstock1000 FIM Cup together with Feel Racing and creating the Aruba.it Racing – Junior Team. An ambitious project, which also reinforces the ties with Ducati.

The team will field two Ducati Panigale R with Leandro Mercado and Michael Ruben Rinaldi. The 23-year-old from Argentina will thus return to the class that crowned him champion in 2014, while for the promising young Italian it will be a debut filled with expectations after collecting four podiums and one victory last season in the Superstock 600 class.
