A right-knee injury puts an early end to Chaz Davies’ winter test a Jerez de la Frontera

Due to a high-speed crash towards the end of the first day of winter tests at Jerez de la Frontera (Spain) with the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team, Chaz Davies was forced to interrupt his program ahead of schedule.
An MRI showed a sprain of the medial collateral and anterior cruciate ligaments of the right knee, coupled with a contusion, as well as a contusion in the left wrist.

After being hampered by a technical issue in Race 1, Chaz Davies bounced back with a dominant win in Race 2 of eleventh round of the WorldSBK Championship at Magny Cours (France). The Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team thus seized its 8th overall win of the season.

In tricky conditions, with a light rain falling intermittently on different sections of the track, the Welshman built his win (the 27th of his career) in the early laps, when he was the only rider capable of lapping in the 1:38 mark after a blistering start from 11th position.

Both Marco Melandri and Chaz Davies enjoyed a positive first day on the Algarve track, closing respectively in second and third position on combined times.
The Italian, who could only ride a handful of laps in FP1 due to a technical problem, quickly recovered in the afternoon session to post a 1:43.207, +0.586 behind the provisional best time of 1:42.621.

In radically different climatic conditions compared with Friday – the tarmac being more than 10 degrees colder, and with strong winds blowing across the track – Marco Melandri and Chaz Davies closed in fourth and eighth position respectively.

The Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team took its sixth podium of the year in Race 1 of the 2017 WorldSBK Championship at Aragon (Spain) thanks to Marco Melandri’s second-place finish. The Italian, twice third in the first two rounds, thus sealed his best result of the season so far. Chaz Davies, on the other hand, crashed out in turn 16 while he was leading the race, in the final stages of a spectacular fight with Rea.

Starting from fourth position, Melandri suffered some difficulties early on with fresh tyres but eventually found his rhythm, posting similar lap times to those of the leading duo and maintaining third position quite effortlessly. Davies, who secured pole position with the new track record in 1:49.319, took the lead at the start and quickly pulled away with Rea.

Third place for the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team in Race 2 at Buriram with Marco Melandri, Chaz Davies is 6th

After finishing in second position in Race 1 with Chaz Davies, the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team stepped on the podium again in Race 2 of the 2017 WorldSBK Championship at Buriram (Thailand) with Marco Melandri. The Italian took third place at the end of race split in two by red flags on lap five. Chaz Davies, who restarted from last position on the grid after a crash, showed tenacity by climbing back to sixth position under the checkered flag.

After a strong start, Melandri and Davies respectively took second and third position early on, behind the winner Rea.
On lap 3, however, Davies lost the rear at turn 3 when he was just behind his teammate and rejoined the pack in last position. Shortly after, the race was interrupted due to oil on track.

The Aruba.it Racing - Ducati on the podium at Buriram with Chaz Davies (2nd), Marco Melandri is 4th

The Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team secured yet another podium in round two of the 2017 WorldSBK Championship in Buriram (Thailand) with Chaz Davies, who was second at the end of a Race 1 made particularly demanding by the heat (35 degrees in the air and 50 on the tarmac).

Marco Melandri, who suffered some braking issues, instead missed contact with the podium only at the last corner and closed in fourth position.

The Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team resumed action today in Buriram (Thailand) for the second round of the 2017 WorldSBK Championship. The first two free-practice sessions yielded positive results for both Marco Melandri and Chaz Davies, who set the third and fourthbest time respectively on Friday.

Despite the fact that the Buriram track has been historically difficult, Melandri and Davies immediately found a good feeling with their Panigale Rs. To this end, the Italian and the Welshman were second and third at the end of FP1.

The Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team ready for Round 2 of the 2017 WorldSBK championship in Thailand

After collecting three podiums in the season opener at Phillip Island (Australia), the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team is ready to resume action this weekend in Buriram (Thailand) for the second round of the 2017 WorldSBK championship.

In Australia, both Chaz Davies and Marco Melandri showed great competitiveness, fighting constantly for top positions. In particular, Davies missed the win in both races by only thousandths of a second, while Melandri showed resilience by taking third place in Race 2 after he was forced off track in Race 1.

Chaz Davies is second in the 2017 WorldSBK season opener at Phillip Island, Marco Melandri forced to retire

The 2017 WorldSBK season opener at Phillip Island (Australia) yielded bittersweet results for the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team. Chaz Davies rode a tactical race and finished in second position, only 0.042 seconds behind Jonathan Rea. Marco Melandri, on the other hand, was forced to retire with seven laps to go after going off the track while battling against an opponent.

In fourth and third position on the grid respectively after Superpole, Davies and Melandri took the lead thanks to a blistering start and then constantly fought in the leading group.

Chaz Davies sets the best time on Friday at Phillip Island, Marco Melandri is fifth

The 2017 WorldSBK championship officially kicked off in Phillip Island (Australia) with the first two free-practice sessions ahead of Saturday and Sunday’s races, and the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team placed both its riders in the top five in the opening day.

Chaz Davies posted the best provisional time with a blistering 1:30.189 (only a tenth of a second slower than the record on qualifying tyres) making the most of the track conditions in the morning, then successfully completed a race simulation during FP2.

The Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team concludes the last pre-season tests in Phillip Island

The Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team took it back to the track in Phillip Island (Australia) for the second and last day of official tests ahead of the 2017 season opener, scheduled for February 24-26. After the rain that hindered yesterday’s program, clear skies and warmer temperatures allowed the riders to make the most of the four hours of track time today.

Both Marco Melandri and Chaz Davies significantly improved their lap times, ending the session respectively in second and third position in the combined rankings.

Rain hampers Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team’s last pre-season tests in Phillip Island

With a few days to go before the World Superbike 2017 season opener, the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team took it to the track once again in Phillip Island (Australia) for the traditional, two-day test together with all the other teams and riders.

The erratic weather, characterized by frequent showers, strong winds and temperatures around 15 degrees, did not help Marco Melandri and Chaz Davies to go through their programs, as the riders were able to clock 37 and 21 laps respectively, closing in third and eighth position.

Marco Melandri successfully undergoes meniscus repair

The Aruba.it Racing - Ducati team rider Marco Melandri underwent surgery today to repair his right meniscus, injured last Sunday during a charity football game in Cattolica (Italy).

The operation was performed by Professor Catani at Policlinico of Modena and no complications ensued.
